Leaving Microsoft

I wrote this to my colleagues at Microsoft today:

This is always tough news to share. I’ve decided to leave Microsoft and February 25^th will be my last day. My time at Microsoft has been very rewarding and I am fortunate to have worked on such a well-regarded product and with such talented people. I will miss you all. I am also grateful for the chance to help build an awesome team here in St. Paul.

The future is exciting. I’ve always felt that I’ve been on the outside looking in on the Bay Area and Redmond and it’s been a dream to move to the center of the action. I will be moving to the Bay Area and working for a competitor, collaborator, and past investment of Microsoft: Apple. I will be managing the iPhoto engineering team.
